Caroline McCormick obituary

Caroline Jean McCormick, 80, of Lake City, passed away peacefully at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester on September 6, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Caroline was born December 6, 1940 to Frank and Eloise (Schult) Dunn in Minneapolis. She lived in  Waseca for a short time. The family then moved to Faribault, where she graduated from Faribault High School in 1958. Caroline married David McCormick on August 27, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault. They lived in Hills, Minnesota after they were married. In 1962, they moved to Lake City where Dave had taken a teaching job and have resided there since. Caroline worked as an administrative assistant for the Lake City Chamber of Commerce, State Farm Insurance, Greenline, and Pillsbury in Lake City. At the time of her death, she was working at The Rustic Café, and also at the First Congregational Church as a secretary, where she had worked for over 40 years. Caroline was a member of Eastern Star, Woman’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and many other service organizations.  She had a passion for volunteering and helping others.
Caroline was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Whether it was a band concert, play, musical, football, basketball, baseball, or soccer game, Caroline could always be found in the stands cheering. She was very proud of them and always had photos and newspaper clippings of their events displayed on her refrigerator and bulletin board at church.  Caroline also loved the trees and birds at her home of 54 years just outside of Lake City. She enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, bowling, and her neighborhood card club.
Caroline is survived by her husband Dave; four children:  Kathy, David Jr., John (Tracy), all of Lake City; and James (Nancy) of St. Charles; six grandchildren, Marissa (Sam) Pollock, Alex McCormick, Ryan McCormick, Halle McCormick, Abbie (James) McGee, Laura (Brandon) Buckman; two great grandchildren, Carson and Vaeda McGee; sister, Kathy Williams; brother-in-law, Jim McGraw; sister-in-law, Shirlie Dunn; and numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Danny Dunn, and sister, Mary McGraw.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Lake City with Reverend David Badgley officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. There will be an Eastern Star Service held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
