Carolyn Hill Obituary
Carolyn Jean Hill, 77, of Alexandria, Minnesota and formerly of Plainview and Wabasha, Minnesota passed away on Thursday morning, June 25, 2026, at Galeon Nursing Home in Osakis, Minnesota.
Carolyn was born on February 8, 1949, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Eugene and Vada (Waide) Karasch. She grew up attending St. Mary’s Elementary School in Winona, Minnesota and graduated from Cotter High School in Winona in 1967. Carolyn went on to attend Winona State Technical College and obtained her degree in nursing. On May 27, 1971, she married Richard Hill and they later divorced.
Carolyn was a dedicated nurse who spent her career caring for a variety of patients. She worked in hospitals, nursing homes, with hospice patients, and provided in-home care. She also was a therapeutic foster parent for 11 years for the state of Minnesota.
Throughout her life Carolyn enjoyed gardening flowers, fruit, and vegetables. She was incredibly crafty and shared many special handmade gifts with friends and family, especially babies in her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Amy Jo (Bryan) Balcome of Carlos, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Alexandra, and Jacob; one great-grandchild, Levi Alexander; three sisters, Marie Karasch and Susan Waide both of Winona, Minnesota and Rita (Dave) Severin of Gaylord, Minnesota; two brothers, Jim (Sheila) Karasch of Cornell, Wisconsin and Mike (Donna) Karasch of Stillwater, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew Mikey, and her daughter Jessica Ann in 1992.
A memorial service will be held for Carolyn at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel with Father Tojy Jose officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
