Debra Fick obituary

Debra A. Fick (Ludwitzke), of Wabasha, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Nursing Home, at age of 66 years old. She succumbed to a short battle with cancer and passed peacefully with family by her side. She was born September 30, 1957, in Lake City, the daughter of Gary and Barbara (Burns) Ludwitzke.
Debra was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1976. She loved fashion and style as a child into young adulthood and even home interior design. She worked very hard, spending time with family and friends and loved life!
From a young adult, Debra worked as a nanny out of high school, she worked as a waitress at The Galley (Lake City), she loved and enjoyed babysitting, she worked at Lake City Public Schools in the kitchen, Pepin Heights, Treasure Island Casino, Winona Humane Society, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Nursing Home as a Dietary Aide, to which she retired at the age of 65 years in September 2023. She loved all jobs and came out of it with many years of experience and great friends.
She loved being a mother to Missy (Melissa-1977), Kayla (1990), Whitney (1991) and Andrew (1993), and they were her ultimate treasures in life.
Debra was united in marriage to James Emery Fick on October 27, 1989; though proceeded in divorce in 2011, they would still stay good friends after.
Debra will be greatly missed and survived by her mother, Barbara Ludwitzke of Wabasha, Minn.; brother, Gary Ludwitzke Jr. of St. Cloud, Minn.; sisters, Brenda Baker of Kellogg, Minn. and Carrie Williams of Wabasha, Minn.; by her daughters, Melissa (Ludwitzke) McWilliams of Lake City, Minn.; Kayla Fick of Lake City, Minn.; Whitney Fick of St. Paul, Minn.; and Andrew Fick of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Kiara McWilliams of Hudson, Wis.; Isaiah McWilliams of Hudson, Wis.; Jordan McWilliams of Lake City, Minn.; Alexander McWilliams of Lake City, Minn.; Timothy Ohlhauser of Lake City, Minn., Axton Fick of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is survived by one Aunt Elaine Burns, and many cousins, especially Jill Goff of Wabasha, Minn.
She is preceded by her father, Gary Ludwitzke Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor, on her birthday, September 30, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the VFW in Wabasha, Minn. The Celebration of Life will be posted in The Wabasha Herald and The Lake City Graphic, along with social media, if questions contact family.
