Della Kirtz Obituary

The funeral service for Della B. Kirtz was Monday, Feb. 22, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City with Fr. Joseph Pete officiating.  Burial followed the service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.   
    Mrs. Kirtz, 93, of Red Wing and formerly of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 at St. Crispen Care Center in Red Wing.
    Della Bernice Vosler was born May 19, 1922 in Lake City to John and Lydia (Holst) Vosler. She grew up in the Lake City area and attended Jackson School in rural Wabasha County.  On Oct. 10, 1945 she married Frank N. Kirtz.
    Della worked at Red Wing Shoe and hired out as a housekeeper prior to her marriage.  After her marriage she was a homemaker busy raising their five children.  Della enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, and spending time reading.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Della is survived by her five children, Joyce (Gary) Freiburg of Lake City, Rodney (Linda) Kirtz of Mesa, Ariz., Shirley Kirtz of Red Wing, Nancy Binner (Doug Stephens) of Frontenac, and Janiel (Greg) Poncelet of Bay City, Wis.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Dale Vosler, two sisters, Irene Banick and Mildred Heldt, and special friend, Richard Tomfohrde.
