Donna Herbst Obituary

    The funeral service for Donna Herbst will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the United Methodist Church in Lake City with Pastor Phil Schmidt officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.
    Donna Mae Herbst, 89, of Lake City, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center.  
    She was born June 18, 1929 in St. Paul.   She grew up in the Pine Island area and graduated from Pine Island High School.  On Aug. 14, 1948 she married Clarence Herbst, he passed away Oct. 7, 1984.  Donna married Elmer Herbst on July 1, 1986 in Lake City, he passed away Aug. 26, 2011.
    Donna moved to Lake City from Pine Island in 1948.  She was employed at Zero King Coat Factory in Lake City for 31 years, while raising her family.  Donna loved to bake and was known to make the world’s best apple pie.  She enjoyed spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.  She loved to travel with her brother, David and his wife, Rose.  Most of all Donna will be remembered for living for her family and spending as much time as she could with them.
    Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lake City and its UMW.  She was also a member of the Lake City VFW Auxiliary.
    Donna is survived by her son, Michael (Judy) Herbst of Taylor, Mich.; daughters, Mary (Keith) Boettcher of Rochester and Michelle (Mike) Miller of Mahtomedi, Minn.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rosie Enquist of Rochester; and special friends, Tom, Sonya, and Bennie Wyant, and Christina Barba.  Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mary Krueger; husbands, Clarence and Elmer; and her brother David.
    The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and care staff at the Lake City Care Center for all of the special loving care that Donna has received over these last few years.
    Friends and family may visit from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
