Donna Klennert obituary

Donna Kay Klennert, 74, of rural Lake City, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus, with her family by her side. She was born March 19, 1950, in Riceville, Iowa to Lloyd and Dorothy (Metz) Myers, Sr. Donna attended elementary school in West Albany and graduated from Wabasha High School in 1967. She married Michael Klennert in 1975 at Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln.
They made their home in rural Lake City where they raised their family. They farmed and raised chickens, “Klennert Kluckers” for many years. Donna enjoyed gardening and canning the produce for her family to enjoy. She was always helping friends and neighbors in any way she could. Donna especially loved her family and supported her children and grandchildren by attending many school and athletic functions. She was an avid card player and played with several card groups. Donna also enjoyed doing word finds and puzzles. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln.
Donna is survived by her children, Belinda (Wade) Siewert of Lake City, Mary Gastner of Rochester, Dorothy (Zach) O’Reilly of Goodhue, Ernest (Kellie Tatge) Klennert of Alexandria, David (Michael Goll) Klennert of St. Cloud, and Bernard (Michelle) Klennert of Plainview; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara (Harold) Burfeind, Connie (Jim) Minnick, Lloyd Myers, Jr, Larry (Diane) Myers, Gary (Liz) Myers, Berneta “Nete” (Donald) Reinhard; sisters-in-law, Edith Myers, Velda Myers, Marilyn Myers, and Helen Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, George, Ben, Gordon, William, and Fred Myers, sisters, Eleanor Leonard, and Linda Vining, brother-in-law, Tom Leonard, and sisters-in-law, Inga Myers, and Chari Myers; and two grandchildren, Ryan Siewert, and Derek Strickland.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 23, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel with Rev. Pat VanHouten officiating. Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
