Dorothy Noll obituary

Dorothy M. Noll, 98, of Wabasha, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at Gundersen - St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center, Wabasha.
Dorothy Marie was born March 3, 1923, in Waconia, Minn., the daughter of Paul and Lillian (Simons) Herrmann. She graduated from St. Felix High School, Wabasha. On September 5, 1941, she married Robert J. Noll, at St. Felix Catholic Church.
Dorothy had a perpetual smile and a captivating laugh that endeared her to her family, friends, church and community. She enjoyed an active social life through her sewing club, card club, Dorothy Club, funeral club and as an election judge. Most of all she loved the myriad family gathering on Presidents Day, Christmas, Christmas Eve, Easter, and the Herrmann Family Reunion.
Though she was always busy doing mountains of laundry and cooking meals for dozens of family members and their friends, she found time to sew wedding dresses for her daughters’ weddings and for their bridesmaids, groomsmen and prom dresses. In her spare time, she was a prolific letter writer and later in life, an avid reader.
Her simple pleasures in life included eating popcorn and black licorice with the family gathered around the television watching the Carol Burnet Show and Saturday date night with her beloved husband, Bob. In her moments of solitude, she loved to tend to her flower garden.
Dorothy was born to be a mom, grandmother, home maker and friend to all. This is obvious by her having 15 children over a span of 25 years and one day.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Janet Williams, Wabasha, Minn.; Susan Noll-Thicke and Francis Thicke, Fairfield, Iowa; Wendy and Steve Meyer, Pine Island, Minn.; Mary and Tim Tibor, Rochester, Minn.; Shari and Rich Cerise, Racine, Minn.; Cami and Terry Olson, Rochester, Minn.; sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Kathy Noll Jr., Hopkins, Minn.; Jim and Rose Noll, Wabasha, Minn.; Pete and Bonnie Noll, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mark Noll, Wabasha, Minn.; Jeff and Carol Noll, Rochester, Minn.; Jack Noll, Pepin, Wis.; Paul Noll, Proctor, Minn.; Mike and Heidi Noll, Lake City, Minn.; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Patricia Herrmann, Simpsonville, S.C.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William and Sally Noll, Burnsville, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; infant daughter, Teresa Noll; grandsons Michael Noll and Patrick Noll; a great granddaughter Lucy Dorothy Donnelly; sisters: Lucille Simons, Mitzi Haase, Joan Neiderkorn, Carol Schoen; brothers: Paul Herrmann, Jr. and Richard Herrmann; son-in-law, J. Richard “Snuf” Williams, and her parents, Paul and Lillian Herrmann.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha with Reverend Glenn Frerichs officiating. Face masks are strongly recommended. Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Face masks are strongly recommended. Friends may also call at the church on Friday one hour before the service.
