Douglas Carlson obituary

Douglas “Doug” Carlson, 65, of Lake City passed away on December 24, 2023, at the Lake City Care Center.
Doug was born on May 27, 1958, in Lake City to Roy and Eleanor (Holst) Carlson. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1976. He co-owned Carlson Decorating with his brother Wayne for many years. He then worked for Hearth and Home in Lake City until medical problems forced his retirement. Doug is a retired fireman of the Lake City Fire Department. Doug married Nancy Sprick on December 20, 1986, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They later divorced and remained friends. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish and created many fond memories at Buck Acres with his family and friends. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.
Doug is survived by his sons, Wade (Ali) Carlson of Lake City; Ryan Marking of Lake City; his two brothers Jan (Sally) Carlson of Manitowoc, Wis. and Craig Carlson of Lake City; a sister, Diane (Steve) Prigge of Winona, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Maddison, Camden, and Keaton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Carlson; and nephew, Benjamin Carlson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Nathan Cordes officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson - Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.
