Duane Stemmann obituary
Duane Elroy Stemmann of Red Wing, Minn., left us on November 19, 2024, at the age of 77.
Duane was born on November 16, 1947 to Elmer and Dolores (Alms) Stemmann. He attended rural school through 8th grade, then Goodhue High School graduating in 1965. He served his country from May 1966 to June 1972 with the Army Reserves Wabasha Unit. He married Patricia (Laqua) October 1970 at St. Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church. Together they raised four children on the family farm in the Belvidere Valley.
Duane was a farmer at heart. He took great pride in living on the same farm for 77 years. He had a passion for teaching his kids and grandchildren about life on the farm. He taught them about the importance of faith, family and the value of hard work. Duane enjoyed deer hunting with family and friends, known as the “Lead Valley Deer Hunters”, fishing trips to Canada and Effie, restoring old cars and tractors, and was always up for a tractor ride, Sunday afternoon cruise with the cars, or a good game of Hucklebuck with the neighbors.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores & Elmer and brother Dennis. Duane will be missed by his wife Pat, of 54 years, their children, Sheila (Jerry) Stehr, Cory Stemmann, Andy (Chrissy) Stemmann, and Trisha (Jesse) Hadler. Grandchildren, Kate and Tally Stehr, Trent (Marissa) and Tyson Stemmann, and Charlie, Logan and Everett Hadler. Great granddaughter Addison Stemmann. As well as many friends and family.
