Emery Kohrs Obituary

Emery Kohrs, 87, of Lake City, went to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.
    Emery was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Lake City, to Leonard and Alvira (Dankers) Kohrs. He married Ruth Gerken on June 6, 1952 at Bethany Lutheran Church.  They lived and farmed in Mount Pleasant Township where they raised six children.  In 1993 they retired from farming and moved to Lake City.  Emery was a member of St. Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church his entire life and served on many church boards.
    He is survived by two sons, Keith (Deb) Kohrs and Mark Kohrs, both of Lake City; three daughters, Kate (Larry) Binner of Wabasha, Debra  Foster of Rochester and Patricia Sexton of Lake City; one daughter-in law, Jill Kohrs of Lake City; grandchildren, Scott (Dixi) Kohrs, Paula (Bobby) Priefert, Sherry Foster, Melissa (Jeremy) McDonnell, Jackie (Geoff) Passe, Jessica (Matt) Kehren, Jeremy (Amanda) Kohrs, Jennifer (Bill) Apley, Nicole (Rick) Radatz and Ashley Sexton; 21 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gene (Joanie) Kohrs of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth Kohrs, one son, William Kohrs, a stillborn granddaughter, two sons-in-law, Kenneth Sexton and Dan Foster, and one sister, Delores.
    A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at St. Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Frentz officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Scott Kohrs, Jeremy McDonnell, Jeremy Kohrs, Bobby Priefert, Geoff Passe, Matt Kehren, Rick Radatz, Trevor Foster and Bill Apley.  Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
