Etta Mae Dirks obituary

Etta Mae Dirks, age 90, of Lake City passed away Sept. 13, 2020 at Houston Methodist Willow Brook Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Etta Mae was born July 4, 1930 in Saratoga, Minn. to Frank & Julia (Stedman) Polzin. She grew up in the Dover, Minn. area and graduated from Dover High School. Etta Mae married Arnold Dirks June 4, 1951 in Rochester, Minn. She worked at Woolworths and McDonald’s as a cashier. Etta Mae and Arnold lived in Minnesota and Texas. In 1995 Etta Mae moved to Lake City. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Lake City, Priscilla Circle and she was very active in church functions. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominos, going for rides, reading, watching TV and baking.
She is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Chris) Paulsen of Cypress, Texas; son, Steven (Diana) Dirks of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Christopher (Mary) and Chad (Ashley) Paulsen; granddaughter, Gretchen Dirks; a step-granddaughter, Cherie Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; sister, Arvilla Nardinger of Lake City; brother, Vernon (Ruth) Polzin of Wabasha; sister-in-law, Annette Urban.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold; son, Martin Dirks; granddaughter, Amanda Dirks; sister, Jessie Kutina, brother; Luther Polzin.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Lake City with pastor Phillip Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson – Peterson Chapel, Lake City. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville, Minn. In accordance with the MDH Covid-19 guidelines social distancing and masks will be required.
