Eugene Goetz obituary

Eugene K. Goetz, 96, of Lake City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Born December 27, 1929, in Plainview, Minnesota, Gene graduated from Plainview High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. As a member of the Airborne Rangers, he served as an officer in the Korean War. After, he studied at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, launching a distinguished career as a film traveloguer and professional photographer.
On June 3, 1967, he married Ihleen Wold in Hopkins, Minnesota. Together they traveled the world creating travel films until their son, Karl, arrived, after which they settled in Lake City.
Gene’s adventurous spirit shone through in skydiving and piloting ultralight aircraft, which were hobbies he shared joyfully with his son. He also cherished quiet days on the water: fishing, camping, or simply boating on the lake.
Private services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
