George Johnson Obituary

George Lee Johnson went to his heavenly home on Dec. 21, 2018.  He died at his home in Pearland, Texas after a courageous battle with Melanoma.  
    George was born July 19, 1935, in Red Wing to Stanley and Mable Johnson of Goodhue.  He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army for two years.  On May 10, 1958, he married Gladys Holst in Goodhue. They lived in the Minneapolis area and two children, Carrie and Brent, were born into this marriage.  In 1970, the family moved to New Richmond, Wis.  George and Gladys moved to Green Valley, Ariz. in 1988.  George worked at several companies during his career in purchasing.  After retirement in 2002, to be closer to Carrie, he and Gladys moved to Naples, Fla. and in 2009 to Athens, Ga. and in 2014 moved to Pearland, Texas.
    George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys, of Pearland, Texas; daughter, Carrie (Michael) Capps of Pearland, Texas; son, Brent (Jamie) Johnson; grandsons, Tanner and Parker of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister, Julie (Darrel) Jaeger of Stewartville; and several nieces and nephews.  His parents preceded him in death.
    A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13,  at 11 a.m. at Mahn Funeral Home Chapel, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City.
