Harold Bremer Obituary

Harold J. Bremer, 92, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.  
    He was born Dec.  9, 1923 on the family farm in Lake Township to John P. and Martha (Steffens) Bremer.  He attended St. John’s Parochial School in Lake City. He graduated from Agricultural School at the University of Minnesota.
    He married Iris Finke June 6, 1948 in Maple Grove, Minn. Harold and Iris farmed his family farm until his sons began farming. Then they moved to the house he built on the edge of the bluff and continued helping his sons on their farms.
    Harold was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church where he served in many capacities on the church board and also St. John’s School Board. He served on the Lake City School Board for 21 years, also Farmers Elevator Board, and the Wabasha County Soil and Conservation Board.
    Harold is survived by his wife, Iris; children, Charles (Judy) Bremer of Lake City, Richard (Cheryl Sprick) Bremer of Lake City, Lois (Milo) Bundy of Rosemount, Minn. and John (Sandra Anderson) Bremer of Zumbrota; one sister, Ruth Trelstad of Fridley; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
    A memorial service will be Thursday, Jan. 28, 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. John Berg officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials are preferred to donor choice.
