Harold "Nick" Roussopoulos obituary

Harold Nicholas “Nick” Roussopoulos   died on February 6, 2022.Nick, age 76 of Theilman, Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by his four children at St. Marys in Rochester, Minn.  Nick was born November 22, 1945, to Eugene and Zoe Ann Roussopoulos in West St. Paul, Minn. He attended St. Mathews, Hill Murray, and graduated from Humbolt High School in 1963. While growing up, he made lifelong friends with Bob Smith, George Taylor, and Tom Wegscheider.
    He enlisted in the Navy in June 1963 and achieved the rank of Engineman 2nd Class. He served on the USS Telefair APA210. He volunteered to go to Vietnam where he was assigned to a River Patrol boat. Nick received an Honorable Discharge in April of 1967. He returned home to drive a semi-truck for Midland Carriers, attended Winona Tech and graduated with a civil engineering degree, and went on to work with the Highway Department in St. Paul as a draftsman. He worked as a mechanic for the highway shop in Rochester and Universal Ford. He was a carpenter for Kenny Bigelow for a short time, then attended Rochester Tech and graduated with a degree in accounting. He then worked for Normandy Guard Service at Lakeside Packing in Plainview, Minn.         Nick was hired at the Wabasha County Sheriff’s office in June of 1978, where he started as a Dispatcher/Jailer and then Deputy Sheriff. He started the Wabasha County K9 program in 1988. He was a K9 handler with his beloved dogs Fritz, Rebel, Thor, and Shataan until he retired from the Sheriff’s Department in 1999.  Nick enjoyed his retirement by riding his Harley and woodworking. He was active with the VFW Post #8729 and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club.
    Nick is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Zoe Ann Roussopoulos, sister Mary, and brother Mark. He is survived by his brother David (Linda); sister Christine (special friend Bert Baierl); sister-in-law Barb Roussopoulos; former wives Kathleen (Taubel) Sagissor, and Shelly (Dahlstrom) Roussopoulos; son Joseph (Jill) Roussopoulos; daughter Jennifer (David) Wolf; grandsons: Nicholas, Benjamin, and Mathew Roussopoulos, Brian, Brady (Morgan), and Austin Wolf; son Adam (Martha) Roussopoulos; daughter Ashley Roussopoulos (Fiance George Marquez); grandsons: Mason and Jackson Roussopoulos. Nick will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  
    There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 100 Peace Ridge, Lake City, MN. Memorials are preferred to family and flowers can be sent to the church on March 11, 2022 for the celebration.
