Ila Heldt Obituary

Ila Alice Heldt, 102, of Lake City, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.  
    She was born May 12, 1913, in Lake City, to Thomas and Fanny “Ervie” (O’Hara) Walters and attended school in the area. On May 12, 1929, she was untied in marriage to John W. Heldt and they lived in Lake City.  Ila was a homemaker and was always a wonderful hostess to her family and friends.  She loved bird watching and was fond of owls.  She also enjoyed reading and was a fan of the Minnesota Twins.  She was a member of United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
    She is survived by her daughter, Thelma (Bob) Nauck of Choteau, Mont.; grandchildren, Barb (Rick) Chambers of Choteau and Chuck Nauck of Kent, Wash.; great-grandson, Kyle; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, John in 2004; siblings, LeRoy “Toby” Walters, Etta Walters, Verma Olin, Vera Driesback, Ed Walters, Marce Walters, Majelle Geisler and Ernie Walters
    Funeral service was Tuesday, Feb. 23 at United Methodist Church with Rev. Phillip Schmidt officiating. Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family.
