Irene Bremer obituary

Irene Marcella Bremer, 89, of Lake City, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester.  She was born on May 23, 1931, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Clarence and Fina Asleson.   She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1949 and then worked for the Mayo Clinic.  On June 14, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald Bremer.  They farmed for many years on the Bremer farm retiring in 1990 and moving to Lake City.  Donald died on April 3, 1998.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, and was on the hot lunch committee for many years. She was an officer for American Foreign Exchange Students and  volunteered for the Lake City Care Center.  She enjoyed playing cards, going to Treasure Island Casino to play Keno, doing crossword puzzles, reading, dancing, gardening, and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.
Irene is survived by her three children, Mark (Lori) Bremer of Lake City, Vicki (Ed) Haney of River Bank, Calif. and Judy (Brian) Harmon of Rochester, 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and family foreign exchange student, Gaynor Ramsey.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Jody Paddock and one grandson, Adam Brown.
A private family service will be held with burial at St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, 1022 Lyon Ave.  Masks and social distancing are required.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
