Iris Bremer Obituary

Iris S. Bremer, 87, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.  
    She was born Dec. 31, 1928 to Fredrick and Emma (Stieg) Finke.  
    Iris graduated from Agriculture School at the University of Minnesota. She married Harold Bremer June 6, 1948 in Maple Grove, Minn.  Iris and her husband farmed their family farm until their sons began farming.  Then they moved to the house Harold built on the edge of the bluff. Iris worked as a cook at the Lake City Nursing Home for 10 years, the Villa Maria in Frontenac and Knudsen’s Caramel’s.
    Iris was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 4H leader and an active member of the Home Extension Program of Wabasha County. Most of all Iris enjoyed spending time with her family collecting recipes and was an avid gardener.
    Iris is survived by her children, Charles (Judy) Bremer and Richard (Cheryl Sprick) Bremer, both of Lake City, Lois (Milo) Bundy of Rosemount, Minn. and John (Sandra Andersen) Bremer of Zumbrota; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;and two sisters, Irma Schmid of New Hope, Minn., and Evelyn Wells of Fredericksburg, Texas. Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, three brothers Marin, Donald and Gilbert, two infant sisters.
    A memorial service was Thursday, Feb. 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev John Berg officiating. Burial was at St. John’s Cemetery.  Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City handled arrangements.
