James Srnec obituary

James Frank “Jim” Srnec of Lake City, Minn. passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim, 87, was born in Winona, Minn. on August 31, 1937, to William J. and Eva M. (Schweitzer) Srnec. He attended Cotter High School and Saint Mary’s University before starting a family and moving to the Twin Cities. He enjoyed a long career as a feed trader, working for I.S. Joseph, Pillsbury and General Mills.
After retirement, Jim moved to Lake City with Judy, his wife of 54 years. Between trips to the casino, he enjoyed reading, watching Westerns, cheering on the Vikings and maintaining a beautiful, perfectly manicured lawn. He loved being outdoors, whether fishing with his brothers, working in the yard or taking his bike for a ride around town.
Jim will be deeply missed by daughters Jennifer (Mike) Kutzke and Andrea (Mike) Raab; grandchildren Katie, Nick, John, Alex and Jacob; niece Midge Srnec; and neighborhood friends. He is preceded in death by wife Judith and siblings Bob, Joe, Jane and John.
According to his wishes, Jim will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
