Jane Busch obituary

Jane Helen Busch, 77, of Lake City, passed away on Monday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2020 at The Bluff’s in Lake City. She was born January 3, 1943 in Plum City, Wis. to Marcella (Bargsten) and Morris Anderson. She moved with her family to Lake City in 1949. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1961, Jane moved to Minneapolis and worked in the banking business for several years.
Jane returned to Lake City and continued her profession as a teller at the Lake City State Bank. She helped break the “glass ceiling” for woman in business in Lake City years before it was even spoken of. She was also the first woman member of the Lake City Kiwanis Club. Through hard work and persistence, Jane became vice-president at the bank. She also was the point person at Lake City State Bank to promote and give out a college scholarship to graduating senior girls to encourage and help them reach their goals of working in the business world. This was very important to her.
Jane was a small town girl that lived every day to get the most out of life. She was a very proud resident of Lake City, and riding with her husband Mayor Don Busch on the back of a convertible car leading the Lake City Water Ski Days Parade was a highlight for Jane. She loved traveling with the girls and was quite a world traveler she visited and took trips to many places around the US and the world, including; Alaska Cruise to the glaciers, Cozumel Mexico several times, Nashville, Las Vegas, the deserts of Arizona several times, California, Washington, D.C., and Colorado white water river rafting. For many years of her life her daily walk was a priority, along with always having her hair done, nails done, and good clothes.
Jane loved her family dearly and took care of her mother, and her sister, Gloria. When Gloria became ill and resided in the care center for 12 years, Jane visited her every day, making sure she was dressed well and that she got the best care. Jane was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.
Jane is survived by her best friend of 25 years, Gary Bremer, her siblings, David W. (Eda) Anderson, Carol (Roger) Pollei and Susan (Kip) Edquist. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Donald Busch, her parents, Marcella and Morris Anderson, and her sister, Gloria Beaman.
A private funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City, with Pastor Nathan Cordes officiating. A public burial service will be at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. Masks are required at the services, and please practice social distancing.
