Janeil Olson obituary
Janeil Fay Olson, 75, of Lake City, Minn., passed away from bone cancer on September 12, two days shy of her 76th birthday. She showed nothing but grace during her three short weeks from diagnosis to death.
Janeil was born Sept. 14, 1948 in Alma, Wisconsin to Don and Lucy (Regeth) Denison. Her parents moved their family of eight to Northfield, Minn. in 1956, where Janeil graduated high school. Janeil was a master craftsman and a self-taught, skilled artist. She created masterpieces out of textiles, fabric, metals, and seemingly cast-away items. Janeil leaves behind beautiful handmade heirlooms as her beloved legacy to her family.
Truth be told, Janeil was happiest being surrounded by her grandchildren and serving them her homemade noodles and creamy chicken casserole. Janeil was preceded in death by husband of 50 years, Michael Olson, her three-year-old son Tyrone, granddaughter Frankie Knaub, parents, sisters Evelyn and Kathy, and brother Dallas.
She is survived by son Todd (Sara Cwayna) Johnson, stepdaughters Tammy (Jim) Rice, Lisa (Wes) Blue, and Tracey (Max) Weil, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, her siblings Karlyn, Cindy, Keith, and Randy, devoted brother and sister-in-law Gary (Brenda Alf) Olson, and many treasured friends from the Wabasha and Lake City communities.
Janeil paid her life forward by donating her body to the University of Minnesota’s Anatomy Bequest Program. She wished for no services to be held in her honor.
