Janet Conrad obituary

Janet Lee (Whempner) Conrad passed away on July 12, 2024 in Glenview, Illinois. Born in Lake City, Minnesota, she taught English in Wausau and Minneapolis before making Glenview her home.  Jan was known for her generosity, sense of humor and exceptional letter-writing abilities. She could pass entire afternoons on the phone chatting with friends and family.  Jan will be deeply missed by longstanding partner Jim Schaefer; sisters Marsha (Gary) Alexander and Phyllis (Adrian) Gilbert; nieces and nephews Jennifer (Mike) Kutzke, Andrea (Mike) Raab, Jay (Ana) Alexander, Jordan (Julie) Alexander, Paul (Melissa) Alexander, Julie (Kye) Alexander, Christopher (Jan) Gilbert and Claudia Knittle; many grand-nieces and -nephews; and beloved friends. She is preceded in death by twin sister Judith (Jim) Srnec. At Jan’s request, her family will celebrate her life at a private gathering in lieu of a funeral service.
