Joseph Wise obituary
Joseph Donahue Wise, age 83, of Prior Lake, Minn., passed away at home on September 20, 2024. Born on February 4, 1941, in Lake City, Minn., he was the son of George and Mary (McCarthy) Wise.
After graduating from Lake City High School, he went on to earn his degree from Winona State University. His service as an officer in the U.S. Navy was a testament to his commitment to his country and instilled in him a deep sense of honor and pride.
Joe was a passionate sports fan, especially devoted to the Minnesota Vikings. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, skiing, boating, and snowmobiling, often creating cherished memories at the family cabin on Lake Pepin.
In recent years, Joe found great joy and companionship at the Prior Lake VFW 6208, where he spent much of his time gathering with friends and fellow veterans.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda; his son, Brandon; his brother, Pat; and his niece, Stacy. He is survived by his cherished grandson, Trexton Wise; his brother, Dick (Darliss) Wise; daughter-in-law, Meagan Wise; sister-in-law, Sandy Wise; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11 a.m at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Ave. SE in Prior Lake. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at church. The reception will follow mass at Prior Lake VFW 6208, 16306 Main Ave SE in Prior Lake.
Interment will be held later at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Prior Lake VFW 6208 in Joe’s honor.
