Joshua Leonard Obituary

Joshua Jerome Leonard, 27, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 in a farming accident.
    He was born Sept. 24, 1991 in Rochester, Minn. to Jeffrey and Annette (Book) Leonard. Josh grew up in Zumbro Falls and graduated with his high school sweetheart, Melanie Cordes, from Lincoln High School in 2010.
    Josh and Melanie were united in marriage on Oct. 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester. Josh found his dream job driving semi-truck with Nibbe Grain Hauling, where he had the opportunity to have ownership of "Blackie", his own truck. His pride and joys were the ‘39 and the Paddy Wagon. His passions included spending time with his wife, Melanie; working on his rat rods, cruising around, participating in car shows, or helping his rat rod family with their cars; catching up with old friends and spending time with family, especially his niece and nephews and of course, making sure his semi and rat rods were spotless. Josh was a member of eRATicate Cancer Cruise and the Sons of the American Legion in Bellechester.
    Josh is survived by his wife, Melanie and their baby due Oct. 17, 2019; parents, Jeffrey and Annette Leonard of Zumbro Falls; sister, Samantha (Lee) Meldrim of Lake City; brother, Alexander (Toni) Leonard of Zumbro Falls; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Janet Leonard of Millville; father-in-law, Charlie (Jenelle Krause) Cordes of Lake City; mother-in-law, Jean (Gary) Salfer of New Richmond, Wis.; brother-in-law, Tony (Brittany) Cordes of Lake City; sister-in-law, Emily (Bennett) Engh of St. Charles; brother-in-law, Jonah Salfer of New Richmond, Wis.; grandmother-in-law, Annette Cordes of Lake City; nephews and nieces, Kasey and Cheyenne Cordes, Max and Hudson Meldrim, and baby girl, Engh. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Linnie Book and aunt, Bonnie Kappedal.
    A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester with Fr. Randal Kasel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, May 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.
