Katherine Simanski obituary

Katherine “Katie” Ann Simanski, 84, of Lake City, died Saturday, March 9, 2024, at White Pine Assisted Living in Blaine, Minn. where she has resided the past four years. She was born on May 23, 1939, in Lake City to Herbert and Edna (Richardson) Petrich.  She graduated from Lake City High School in 1957.  On March 9, 1957, she was united in marriage to Dennis Simanski of Red Wing. They moved throughout the United States while Dennis was serving in the US Navy, returning to Lake City in 1975.  She worked at the Lake City Hospital and Lake City Nursing Home in housekeeping. Katie was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and going for coffee with her friends.
Katie is survived by three children Denise (Stanley) Bargsten of Lake City, Corinna (Bud) Potvin of Ramsey and Glen (Michelle) Simanski of Lake City; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; one son Anthony; one daughter, Kathy Newman; and two brothers, Robert and Donald Petrich.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Lakewood Cemetery. A celebration of life and fellowship will be held at the Lake City VFW Club following the graveside service.  Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel.
