Kathleen Burfeind obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Mary Burfeind, 73, of Lake City, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at her home in Lake City. She was born on September 15, 1952, in Lake City, to Edward J. and Frances (Lichtblau), Sr.
Kathy grew up on the family farm in rural Lake City. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School through grade 8 and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. After high school she helped her mother on the farm until 2006 and then worked as a cook at the Lake City Public Schools, retiring in 2022.
Kathy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was very active in the Altar Guild. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, quilting and doing needlework.
Kathy is survived by her brothers, Edward (Judy) Burfeind and Harold (Barbara) Burfeind, both of Lake City, and Jim (Helen) Burfeind of Wabasha; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Burfeind of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bertha and Amelia, four brothers, Elward, John, Fritz, and Dallas; and one niece, Cindy Burfeind.
The memorial service for Kathy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Robbin Robbert officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.
