Lloyd Grobe Obituary

The funeral service for Lloyd F. Grobe will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Portland Avenue in Saint Paul Park, with Pastor Jim Roecher officiating.  Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, at Lincoln Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake City, with Military Rites by the Lake City American Legion Post 110 and VFW Post 8729.
    Lloyd Fredrick Grobe, 87, of Saint Paul Park, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at White Pines Senior Living in Cottage Grove.  He was born Oct. 6, 1931 in Wabasha County to Alfred and Lillian (Holst) Grobe.  He attended school at Wabasha Rural District 24, and St. John’s Lutheran School in Lake City. Lloyd graduated from Plainview High School in 1949 and was active in FFA.  Lloyd attended the Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, Texas where he earned a degree in aircraft general jet mechanic. He served his country from 1952 to 1956 in the Air Force as a staff sergeant.  He married Janice Barghusen on June 20, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church Lincoln in rural Lake City.
    Lloyd and Janice farmed in rural Lake City for many years before moving to Cottage Grove in 1966.  In 1973 the Grobe family built a house in Saint Paul Park to be closer to serve at church and for the children to attend parochial school.  Lloyd was employed by Northwest Airline as a mechanic for over 30 years.  He was active in IAM union for over 40 years, served on the board at Camp Croix near Danbury, Wis., and was Volunteer of the Year for AAL.  Lloyd enjoyed spending time woodworking, tinkering in his garage, volunteering for building and grounds at his church, and mowing lawns and snow blowing for numerous neighbors.
    Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Kim (Curtis) Boogren of Cottage Grove; sons, Brian (Jane) Grobe of Hudson, Wis., Dale (Kathie) Grobe of Elgin, Jon (Jody) Grobe of Blaine, and David (Anne) Grobe of Ft. Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin (Michelle) Grobe, Holly (Steven) Todd, Sean (Bradley) Grobe, Nathaniel (Nicole) Grobe, Mitchell and Anthony Boogren, Aaron (Emily) Grobe, Patrick (Sarah) Grobe, Kristi Grobe, Paxton and Kylie Grobe; five great-grandchildren, Blake and Brooklyn Grobe, Axel Grobe, Weston and Jett Todd, and one due in April; and one brother, Ralph (Diane) Grobe of Zumbro Falls.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janice, grandson, Ross, three sisters, Delores Timm, Gladys Grobe and Marian Schumacher, and brother, Don Grobe.
    Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
