Lois Palmer Obituary

Lois Henrietta Palmer, 89, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 at her home.  
    She was born on June 28, 1929 to Claus and Henrietta (Dohrn) Klenke in Gilbert Valley in rural Lake City.  She attended rural and Lake City schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1947. She married Donald William Palmer on June 2, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.  They farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township until 1979 when they moved to Lake City.  Lois was a 4-H leader and an election official for many years.  She enjoyed antiquing, playing cards, sewing and dancing.  Lois was proud of her German heritage and enjoyed doing family genealogy.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.  
    She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald of Lake City; four daughters, Patricia Kidd of West Salem, Wis., Karen (Matthew) Robinson of Athens, Ala., Mary (Daniel) Roper of Red Wing, and Lynne (Gary) Watson of Goodhue; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Claus and Henrietta Klenke; two daughters, Kay Lynn (1953) and Julie Palmer (1978); sister, Anna Marie Breuer Voth; and two brothers, Frederick and Glenn Klenke.
    Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Frentz officiating. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church.
