Lois Somerville Obituary
Lois Jean Somerville, 88, of Lake City died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park in Red Wing.
She was born July 9, 1927 in Medo Township, Blue Earth County, to Bert and Edith (Wells) Walker. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1945 and went on to attend Northwestern Bible College and graduated in 1948. Lois married Edmond Roberts on April 2, 1949 in Zumbrota. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in the Bellechester area. Edmond died on May 16, 1958. Lois then moved to Lake City. She married Wayne Somerville March 1, 1964, at the Little Brown Church in Iowa and they lived in Lake City. She managed the Sears store in Lake City for many years. She and Wayne also ran the Lake City Taxi Service. Lois was very active at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lake City. She was currently a member of Valley View Assembly of God Church. She also taught piano for many years. Lois was a very caring person and always left her door open to family and friends.
She is survived by three sons, Nathan Roberts of Lake City, Dan Roberts of The Woodlands, Texas, and Rick (Peggy) Roberts of League City, Texas; daughter, Patricia “Patti” Roberts of Lake City; two stepsons, Mark (Bev) Somerville of El Dorado, Kan. and Steve (Diane) Somerville of Lake Nebagamon, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Frances Walker of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Edmond Roberts and Wayne Somerville; parents; two sisters, Beulah Walker and Dorothy Welch; and three brothers, Kenneth, Donald, and David Walker.
Funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City with the Reverends Orin Sandberg, Don Still, and Mark Somerville officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brent Walker, Chad Briggs, Christopher Roberts, Dalton Arndt, Jon Somerville, and Steve Moss.
