Lorne McDonald obituary

Lorne Allan McDonald, 88, passed away on June 24, 2023 at the Lake City Care Center.
Lorne was born on January 22, 1935 in Madison, S.D. to Lorne and Marcella (Rogness) McDonald. After graduating from high school, Lorne joined the Navy and served for four years. Lorne married his wife Jean Hollman on July 28, 1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. Lorne worked as a purchasing manager at DiAcro Manufacturing in Lake City and then at Meyer Industries in Hager City, Wis. until his retirement in 1995. Lorne was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lake City. He was also a member of the Lake City VFW 8729.
Lorne is survived by his son, William (Debb) McDonald of St. Peters, Mo., daughter, Lorna McDonald of Duluth, Minn.; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his sister, Marcy Hostager of Woodbury, Minn.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean; a son Brett McDonald, his brothers, John, Chuck, Fay, and Florin McDonald; sister, Adair Dahman.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City. Reverend Paul Miller will be presiding. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. Military Honors will be handled by Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110. Online condolences can be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
