Marcene Herron Obituary

Marcene M. Herron, 95, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at The Bluffs of Lake City.
    Marcene was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Lake City to Henry and Mabel Meincke, growing up on a farm by Oak Center. She went on to graduate from Winona Teachers College, starting a 32-year career teaching grade school on how to read and write; 18 years in Lake City and 14 years in the Downey, Calif. school system.
    On June 28, 1940, she married George T. Herron in Lake City. They made their home in Lake City until 1967 when they moved to Lakewood, Calif., returning to Lake City after retirement in 1983.
Marcene is survived by two sons, Robert (Nancy) Herron of Lake City and Richard (Kathy) Herron of Frontenac; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Cobb, Matthew (Teresa McCarty) Herron, Richard Herron, Joe (Jen) Herron, Dan Herron; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband George; daughter, Joanne; and sister, Arlys Germond.
    A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Nov. 18, 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Dan Reich officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
