Marvel Holden Obituary

Marvel Ann Holden, 84, of Red Wing, died Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on November 26, 1934, in Lake City to Clarence and Anna (Brock) Meyer.  She graduated from Lake City High School in 1952.  On May 16, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marvin “Sam” Holden in Northwood, Iowa and they resided on a hobby farm in Hay Creek Township for many years.   Marvel worked at local restaurants as a waitress, Woolworths, the Farmers Store, was a Girl Scout leader, provided childcare and for 25 years worked at Jostens before retiring.  After retirement she worked at Braschlers Bakery  for three years and traveled, including one cruise.  Sam died on October 27, 1996.  She was an active member of United Lutheran Church.  Marvel enjoyed bingo, animals, especially her cat, Baby, and feeding the birds.   Most of all she treasured spending time with her family and friends.

Marvel is survived by five children, Linda (Greg) Huppert, Vicky (Dan) Curtis, Brenda (Frank) Voth,  Jolene (Cory) Stemmann and Dean Holden all of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Chad (Tracey Bohmbach) Curtis, Cheri Curtis, Corey (Megan) Voth, Rachel (Chad) Glover, Kari Voth and Adam Holden;  seven great grandchildren, Kianna Stewart, Mason and Cooper Voth, Brik, Remi and Etta Glover and Samantha Voth; one brother, Loyd Meyer of Hudson, Wis., and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, William and three brothers, Harold, Norman and Melvin Meyer.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.  Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church or Mayo Red Wing Hospice.
