Marvel Klein Obituary

Marvel Klein, 81, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System -  Lake City Care Center.
    She was born Jan. 5, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant Township, Wabasha County to Laroy and Fern (Lutjen) Ohlhaber. Marvel was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 and she was asked to work at Gillette and Eaton (Federal-Mogul) upon graduation. She retired from lifelong employment at Federal-Mogul after working for 50 years with the company.
    In August 1955, Marvel married Richard Klein at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They moved to Lake City and had a son, Tim, and in 1959 they purchased a farm outside of Lake City. In 2003, they moved off the farm and bought a house in Lake City. Marvel taught Sunday school at West Florence Lutheran Church and later served on the Outreach Board for First Lutheran Church in Lake City. Marvel enjoyed farm life, gardening, cooking and baking, especially for the holidays. She loved when Tim and his wife, Diane, would bring their grandchildren to visit and stay overnight.
    She is survived by her husband, Richard; one son, Tim (Diane) Klein of Rochester; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Wes Leach) Klein of Newton Iowa and Matthew Klein of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.; three brothers, Ian, Arlyn and Bruce; and her sister, Lorie. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry.
    A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Lake City on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Duane Holst officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church.
    Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
