Mary Grinnell obituary

    Mary “Judy” Grinnell, 86, of Lake City, formerly of Wayne, Mich.passed away Monday, September 5, 2022 at the Lake City Care Center. She was born June 14, 1936 in Wayne, Mich. to Milton and Margaret Arthur.  She grew up in Wayne and later moved to Bay City, Mich. She graduated from Hillsdale College where she studied teaching. She taught nursery school in Bay City and then later in Lake City when her family moved to Frontenac. Judy later taught at the Red Wing Technical College. In the mid-nineties she moved back to Wayne to care for her father. Judy enjoyed attending church at First Congregational Church in Wayne where she was the “punch lady” helping serve punch at any and all church functions.  She also helped organize the churches rummage sale, which was one of their biggest fundraisers. Judy had a determined spirit with a great sense of humor. As her health began to decline, she moved to Lake City to be closer to family.  
    She is survived by her daughter, Gail Cole; grandsons, Jacob and Jedidiah (Holly Denzer) Adler, all of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Caroline Spence; brother, Murray; sister, Sheila Arthur; son-in-law, Ray Cole.
