Morris Karsten Obituary

Morris John Karsten (Morrie), 63, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, at his home in Zumbro Falls, surrounded by his loving family.
    Morrie was born in Rochester on May 12, 1957 to Gordon and Loretta Karsten. He attended Mayo High School and Rochester Vo-Tech for mechanics. He married his wife, LuAnn Yennie, on Nov. 20, 1976 at Homestead United Methodist Church in Rochester. They lived briefly in Chatfield then moved to Zumbro Falls, where they lived for 43 years. Morrie worked as a carpenter until his diving accident in 1984. Morrie enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, working on his beloved 1968 Pontiac GTO and other muscle cars. Most recently he enjoyed working on go carts with his grandchildren and spending time with them, watching anything on the History Channel and listening to music.
    Morrie is survived by his wife of 43 years, LuAnn; his daughters, Elisabeth (Matt) Morrisey, Sarah (Raleigh) Mehrkens and Julie (Todd) Maki; as well as his sister, Judy Kettner. He was the proud grandpa of Olivia, Simon, Madison, Spencer, Grace, Kaeden, Emily, Isabella and Eli. He was preceded in death by his parents Gordy and Loretta; his sister, Linda; as well as a grandson, Lane.
    Since his accident 36 years ago he has received tremendous support from his community, his PCA’s, neighbors and numerous friends. He and his family are truly thankful for you all.
    His family is hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m. at his home in Zumbro Falls.
