Nancy Toomey Obituary

The memorial service for Nancy Toomey will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Fr. Don Schmitz officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.
    Nancy Ann Toomey, 64, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center surrounded by her family.  
    She was born Sept. 29, 1953 in St. Paul, to Donald and Gertrude (Shea) Diepenbrock.  Nancy grew up and attended school in St. Paul and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City.  She married Daniel Toomey on April 15, 1973 in Rhode Island.
    The Toomey’s moved to Lake City from Pittsburg in 1977.  Nancy worked 18 years at Treasure Island Casino as a slot attendant.  She enjoyed Vikings football, gambling, and going ice fishing.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
    Nancy is survived by her daughters, Amy (Rob) Ottman of Lake City, and Lynn (Richard) Smith and Kelly Jo (Jeremiah) Smith, both of Rushford; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara (Donny) Dick of Reads Landing, Robert Diepenbrock of Lake City, Kathy (John) Fillmore of Wabasha, Skip Diepenbrock of Byron and Doug (Holly) Diepenbrock of Wabasha; and sister-in-law, Nancy Diepenbrock Otto of Cannon Falls.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Gregory.
    Friends and family may visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
