Nancyann Sommerfield Obituary

Nancyann Wells Sommerfield, 72, of Lake City, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020 at her home.         She was born Aug. 16, 1947 to Barbara and Malcolm Drake in the Buffalo, N.Y. area. She grew up in New York and later moved to Phoenix, Ariz. She moved to Minnesota for a time and enjoyed it so much, she decided to retire there.  She came back to Minnesota from Phoenix in 2000 and made her home in Lake City. She enjoyed genealogy and spent time tracing her family’s ancestry. She loved to read and in her younger years she enjoyed collecting rocks and studying geology. Nancyann loved dogs and was both a rescue mom and a foster mom to many dogs. She was kind and caring and most of all, she loved her family.
    Nancyann is survived by her husband, Harold; children, Luther “Luke” (Ann) Hafner, Fredrick (Jenn) Thomas, Billie Jean Sommerfield, Gerald Sommerfield and Jarrett (Jamie) Sommerfield; stepchildren, Jimm Sommerfield, Jeff Sommerfield, Mark Sommerfield and Tom Sommerfield; 13 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
