Neoma Roper Obituary

Neoma Ann Roper, 86, of Red Wing, died Monday, June 1, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 9, 1933 in Red Wing to Clarence and Edna (Dahlstrom) Kells. On May 23, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Roper and they made their home on the farm in Florence Township.
She worked as a dietary cook at the Lake City Hospital for over 20 years, and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frontenac, where she served on the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed quilting and made a quilt for each family member when she got married, as well as hand-sewed ornaments for the grandkids as Christmas presents. She loved having 2 p.m. coffee every day with her friends at The Whistle Stop and she visited her Amish friends in Harmony as often as she could. Holidays and off-roading weekends were some of her favorite times because she loved seeing the farm full of people. She had a fun sense of humor and filled her house with memories of loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Dan) Davidson, Robin (Jean) Roper, Bonnie (Craig) Weber, William (Jean) Roper, John (Lynette) Roper, Connie (Kevin) Ide and James (Jane) Roper; daughter-in-law, Renee; 39 grandchildren and spouses; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and siblings, Lois (Gary) Theis, John (Brenda) Kells, Jim (Nancy) Kells, Louise (Leanord) Ulbrich and Nancy (Fred) Damman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Roper; her son, Scott Roper; and her parents.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 6, at the Roper’s Family Farm in Red Wing, with Rev. Alan Horn officiating.  Burial was at Frontenac Cemetery.
Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
