Nicholas Gisslen Obituary

Nicholas Gisslen, 67, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at his home.  
    He was born April 21, 1948 in Red Wing to Ernest and Elizabeth (Flueger) Gisslen. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1966 and from Gustavas Adolphus College in 1970.  On Feb. 5, 1972 he married Jane Schmidt at the Church of St. Joseph. He worked for ADM, Knudsen Trucking, Stagecoach, Taylor and Dart truck lines as a dispatcher, retiring in 2013.  He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph.   He was an avid duck hunter with Dan Struss, enjoyed fishing, especially trout fishing and golfing.  He also played and coached volleyball for many years.
    Survivors include his wife, Jane; two children, Charles of Red Wing and Christopher (Bethany) Gisslen of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia and Nicholas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Barry Gisslen.
    Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Church of St. Joseph with Fr. Thomas Kommers presiding.  Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing, and at the church for one hour prior to the service.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
