Paul Zimmerman Obituary

Paul Edward Zimmermann, 86, was born Dec. 30, 1933 in Spring Valley, Wis.
He died at home in Lake City on Thursday, June 25, 2020 with his beloved wife and dog at his side.
He was a 1957 graduate of Dr. Martin Lutheran College. That same year he married Karen Kay Laura    Fischer of Manitowoc, Wis., and raised five children. He received a master’s degree from Michigan State University and went on to teach grade school, eighth grade, and serve as principal at several Wisconsin Synod schools. He was always a very active church member. Paul was an outdoorsman. He had visited all of the state parks in Minnesota more than once, and most of the national parks. He hiked down the Grand Canyon, and up the “tallest” points in many states. He enjoyed daily walks with Auggie in local forests. In his community he volunteered with the reserve police, the library and played on a local softball team.
In 1983 he married Nancy Jean Walker Harcey. He was a man of integrity, honesty, hard work, kindness and loyalty.
He will be missed by those that survive him: his wife, Nancy; son, Dan (Kim) of Minneapolis; his daughter, Cherry Hood of Duluth, Ga.; step-children, Nicole Harcey of Rochester, Derrick (Mari Carmen) Harcey of Frisco, Texas, Bridget (Gaurav Vashist) Harcey of Oakland, Calif.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Roland (Jeanette), and Walter (Dene) Zimmermann;  and former spouse, Karen Berg. He was ready to meet his Savior and be reunited with his daughters, Ruth Ellen and Debbie Ann; his son, Peter John; his brother, Arnold; and his parents.  He will be greatly missed.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be a Celebration of Life service scheduled at a later date.
