Peter Terwilliger Obituary

Peter Terwilliger, 78, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at his home in St. Paul.
    He was born on May 26, 1939 to Gilbert and Frances (Shugrue) Terwilliger in Red Wing.  He graduated from Red Wing Central High School and later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in chemical engineering.  He served in the U.S. Army from December 1961 until December 1963.  He married Joanne Witt on Sept. 9, 1974 in Northfield.  He worked for 35 years at 3M until his retirement in 1999.  Peter was a resident of Highland Park in St. Paul for 43 years.  He was a member of the American Legion.  He loved to hunt and fish.  He was very proud of the fact that he built his own sailboat and was one of the first to sail on Lake Pepin.  Every year he tapped his maple trees and made gallons of maple syrup.  He was a loving and dedicated husband and father.  
    Peter is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joanne of St. Paul; son, Eric of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and sister, Margaret Ann Terwilliger of San Bernardina, Calf..  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Terwilliger.
    A funeral service will 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 at St. Mark’s Episcopal in Lake City with Rev. Barbara Mathias officiating. Burial will be at Frontenac Cemetery. Visitation will from 4  p.m. to 7  p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
