Richard Wallerich obituary

Richard (Dick) Paul Wallerich, born January 23, 1934, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, with his loving family and wife Marlene of 69 years by his bedside.
He was born to Wilfred and Hazel (Laqua) Wallerich in Lake City where he and Marlene resided and raised their eight children.
Dick went to Whalen Country School through the seventh grade (twice) which he was always very proud of.  He was an extremely hard-working man who retired at age 65 from the Farmers Elevator/Ag Partners as a fuel oil truck driver. After that he went to work for the Lake City Nursing Home as a maintenance expert for 10 more years. His ultimate favorite career was working with his nephew Darin as an electrician assistant.
Richard married Marlene Rademacher July 13, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. They have many, many loving stories to share of their 69 years together.
Richard is survived by his wife Marlene; children Glenn (Linda Ferguson) of Dodge Center, Gary (Kris Nelson) of Farmington, Dawn of Lake City, Judy (Chris Hoyer) of Lake City, Randy (Peggy Rassel) of Inver Grove Heights, Lori Rodewald (Phil Cernohous) of Hudson, Wis., Doug (Lisa McElmury) of Lake City, Bruce (Trissa Williamson) of Lake City. He is also survived by siblings James (Mary), Mary Moyer, Bernard (Nancy) and sister-in-law Lucille Wallerich; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death are parents Wilfred and Hazel, brother Charles, brother Donald, sister-in-law Darlene, brother-in-law Dale Moyer, and son-in-law Steve Heitman.
He was a man of few words, but a huge heart and soul for family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Thé Hoang officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.
