Richard Zwart Obituary

The memorial service for Richard William Zwart will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln, 35933 County Road 17, rural Lake City, with Pastor Dan Reich officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Richard William Zwart, 34, of Fergus Falls, Minn., formerly of Lake City, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes from a medical condition on Friday, Nov. 22, 2018.
Richard was born on March 1, 1984 to Todd and LouAnn (Lane) Zwart in Lake City. He attended and graduated from Lake City High School where wrestling was his main sport. Richard enjoyed playing softball for Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln. After high school, Richard held several jobs, but climbing towers was the one he enjoyed and talked about the most. He called his mother often to say he loved her and to read her poetry that he enjoyed writing. Some of Richard’s hobbies were shooting pool, fishing and telling funny jokes or stories. He settled into the community of Fergus Falls in 2015. The community embraced him when he took up a paper route in the local business area. He took extra time to greet and ask them, “How are you doing today?" He often worked and volunteered at A Place To Belong. Richard was a mentor to many who struggled with their hardships.  He was caring, kind hearted and would often give back to others. He enjoyed fellowship luncheons and devotional times. Richard will be missed by many. May the love of Christ give you peace, joy, and rest for your suffering is over.
Richard is survived by his son; his parents, Todd and LouAnn Zwart of Zumbrota; four sisters, Dawn (Anthony) Treloar of Rochester, Laura (Chris Martin) Liffrig of Preston, Minn., Sarah (Darrell) Carlstad of Dickinson, N.D., and Amanda Zwart of Hayfield, Minn.; and his paternal grandparents, James and Virginia Zwart of Zumbro Falls.. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Wilma Lane of Lake City and his uncle, Joe Lane and two cousins.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
