Robert Young obituary

    Robert Charles (Bob) Young, age 89, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Peoria, Ariz. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021.
    Born on March 21, 1932, in Lake City, Minn. to William M. Young and Lucille M. (Heins) Young. Mr. Young graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1950. Bob was a member of the undefeated 1949-50 Tiger football team where Carole cheered him on as a cheerleader. Mr. Young attended Augsburg University. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict and was honorable discharged. He married Carole Haase in Lake City. They made their home in Lake City, Deerfield, Ill., Glendale and Peoria, Ariz. Mr. Young worked for IBM in Rochester, Minn., Diebold in Morton Grove, Ill. and Boeing in Mesa Ariz. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Glendale, Ariz. Bob enjoyed playing sports, and supporting his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their sporting and other activities.
    Survived by his wife Carole; sons, Rob (Dorothy) of Carefree, Ariz., Joe (Tiffany) of Mesa, Ariz., Andrew (Amee) of Anthem, Ariz.; daughters, Mary (Gary Thulstrup) of Peoria, Ariz., Nancy (William Murphy) of Antioch, Ill., Jane (Randy Hanson) of Antioch, Ill.; brother, William of Oro Valley, Ariz., sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.
    Proceeded in death by his parents, brother Joe and one grandson.
    Services with military honors were held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, where cremains are inurned.
