Samantha Berry obituary

Samantha Vera (McCarthy) Berry, age 34, of Lake City, Minn. unexpectedly passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 26, 2022 following complications from a ruptured ulcer.
Samantha (Sam) Vera Berry was born July 15, 1988 to Charlie and Linda (Hislop) McCarthy in Richfield, Minn. On May 22, 2013 she and Matthew Berry welcomed daughter Lucy Bell Berry followed by son Joshua Charles Berry on October 9, 2014. In 2013, she moved from Richfield to Lake City, where she raised her family and worked in the community, most recently at Bluff View Elementary where her kids attended school.
To know her was truly to love her, as there was no such thing as a stranger to Sam. As a fierce mama bear and loyal friend, Sam was sure to have you smiling and laughing when in her presence. From cheering on the Vikings to hopping on any motorcycle given the opportunity, Sam lived freely, loved hard, and infected those around her with her vivacious personality. The sky is sure to sparkle a bit more now.
Sam is reunited with her mother Linda and father Charlie Jr., who preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by Matthew Berry, children Lucy and Joshua, brother Charles McCarthy III (Blair), nephew Augustus, grandfather Leonard Hislop, and aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as countless friends.
A celebration of life will be hosted for Sam at the Lake City Sportsman Club on January 28, 2023 from noon to 4 p.m. with a short blessing at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations for funeral and future education expenses for her children Lucy and Josh. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/9b4c94d4.
