Steven Heitman obituary

Steven Morris Heitman, 67, of Lake City, passed away July 9, 2024 with his family by his side. Steven was born to Morris and Marlis (nee Klindworth) June 11, 1957 in Lake City, Minn. He grew up on their dairy farm and attended Lake City High School where he met his future bride, Dawn Wallerich. Together they raised three sons, Matt, Michael, and Travis. Steve farmed for 26 years before going into carpentry, and later welding. Steve taught the boys hard work and was a friend others knew they could count on.
Steve’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed his fall and early winters hunting deer. His passion for the sport rubbed off and his legacy will continue through his sons and grandchildren. He and Dawn also enjoyed cheering on their sons in sports. His many years on the farm led to a love of Allis Chalmers tractors. Together, Steve and the boys restored three tractors. In his later years, Steve picked up bee keeping as a hobby and quickly expanded to up to 11 hives. The sweet legacy will live on through those he brought into the folds to share his passion.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Morris Heitman.
He is survived by his mother, Marlis; wife Dawn; three sons, Matt (Katie), Michael (Amanda), and Travis; grandchildren Caleb, Makena, and Lainey, and Alyssa, Kylie, and Jaxx; sisters Lisa and Pam; as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
We find comfort in knowing that Steve’s legacy lives on through the skills and lessons he taught us, and the memories we will cherish forever.
