Victoria Heitman Obituary

Victoria “Vicky” Jane Heitman, 74, of Zumbro Falls, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in rural Zumbro Falls.
    She was born April 27, 1946 in Lake City to Gerhardt and Caroline (Adams) Gahler. She grew up and attended school in Mazeppa, graduating from Mazeppa High School in 1964.  While in high school she was active in the Mazeppa Butter Festival, and was the 1960 Butter Queen.  On Dec. 5, 1964 she married Leo Heitman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mazeppa.
    They lived in Minnesota until 1976 when they moved to Loveland, Colo. Vicky was employed as the director of the Chamber of Commerce in Loveland for four years. She also worked as a purchasing agent for Banner Health, and then worked in the accounting department of Thompson Valley High School while they lived in Colorado. In 2005 they returned to Zumbro Falls, and moved into their present home in rural Zumbro Falls in 2006. Vicky enjoyed spending her free time shopping especially at high-end consignment stores, such as Kismet, Danielle’s, Savers, and Goodwill in Rochester, Minn.
    Vicky is survived by her husband, Leo Heitman of Zumbro Falls; children, Kristin Jo (Tobin) Roitsch of Loveland, Colo., Scott Heitman of Zumbro Falls, and Stacey C. Heitman of Zumbro Falls; three grandchildren, Devin Heitman, Raegan (Bailey) Landwehr, and Gracy J. Roitsch; a sister, Cynthia Jo “Cindy” Naas of Rochester; and her loving dog, Buddy.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
    A public Celebration of Life, that follows the COVID-19 guidelines, will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel.
