Violet Bechel obituary

    Violet Minnie Bechel, 88, passed away on October 12, 2022, at St. Anne Health Care Facility in Winona, Minn.
    Violet was born on February 4, 1934 to Douglas and Laura (Claflin) Stewart in Pepin, Wis. She married James Bechel on May 23, 1952 and they moved to Red Wing where she was a stay home mom to her son Alan and daughter Shelley. They moved to New London, Wis. where her son Scott was born and  later moved to Frontenac, Minn. where Steven was born. Violet worked at Villa Maria as a cook, BJ Harris sewing coats, DBI in Red Wing sewing safety harnesses. After retiring she moved to Bloomer, Wis. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and playing cards.
    Violet is survived by her sons, Alan Bechel of Winona, Scott Bechel of St. Louis Park; daughter, Shelley King of Winona; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, James Bechel; her parents; her son, Steven Bechel; three brothers, Walter, James; George; two sisters, Donna and Virginia.
    A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, Minn. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Matt Fasnacht officiating. Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.
