Violet Kittleson Obituary

Violet Kittleson, 83, of Lake City, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.
    Violet was born Katherine Violet Spellman Nov. 17, 1935 in LeRoy, Minn. to Mike and Mary (Liddy) Spellman. Violet graduated from LeRoy High School in 1954. She married Alton Kittleson April 20, 1963 in LeRoy. They lived there until the summer of 1969 when they moved to Lake City. Violet went to work for Garden Street Grocery. In 1976 both Alton and Violet went to work for William C. D’Arcy Jr. where they both worked until retiring in 1999. Alton passed away on Nov. 25, 2001. After that Violet spent her time helping with the grandkids until the dementia got worse and it was time to move to the care center. Violet was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
    Violet enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a big sports fan of the Lake City Tigers, Vikings and the Twins and going to the cabin in the Nisswa area, where she enjoyed the loons, which led to her collection of loons.
     Violet is survived by two sons, Sam (Lisa) Kittleson of Lake City and Don (Andrea) Kittleson of Rochester; a daughter, Sandy (Chris Tepley) Miller of Lake City; three grandchildren, Danny Vieths and Jacob and Elijah Miller; She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton; two brothers, Tom and Frank Spellman; and a sister, Irene Rogers.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday March 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Fr. John Wilmot officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake City. Online condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
