Virginia Zwart obituary

Virginia (Ginny) Ellen Zwart, 82, of Lake City went to her eternal home on Oct. 29, 2020 after her courageous battles with cancer ended. Born in Pine Island, Minn. on Sept. 30, 1938, the daughter of Oscar and Leeta (Kundert) Archer. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1956. On Jan. 31, 1957 she married James Zwart in Pine Island. They made their home together in Pine Island and Lake City.
For many years Ginny worked at Kennedy Snyder Drug in Lake City, after retiring from there she decided to work at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for about 11 years. After retirement they enjoyed many winters in Texas with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, crafts, baking and most recently putting puzzles together, and always visits from her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Zwart of Lake City; a son, Todd (LouAnn) Zwart of Zumbrota; four daughters, Nancy (John) Wolf of Lake City, Annette (Philip) Kehren of Zumbrota, Jean (Greg) Davis of Stewartville, Joan Bignell of Red Wing; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John (Delores) Archer of Pine Island, Howard (Bonnie) Archer of Wabasha, and Paul Archer of Zumbrota; two sisters, Darlene Wagner of Mesa, Ariz., and Elvira Wilson of Tucson, Ariz. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters, and a grandson, Richard Zwart.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln, in rural Lake City with Pastor Dan Reich officiating. Friends and family may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural, Zumbro Falls. Masks are required at all services, and please practice social distancing.
